Osteo-Scan is an independent bone mineral density assessment centre specialising in the detection, treatment and prevention of osteoporosis. It is run by professionally qualified practitioners and offers direct appointments or referrals from GP’s to have a bone mineral density (BMD) scan.

We provide a comprehensive diagnostic and management service of bone mineral density and fracture risk. Osteo-Scan operates to a strict code of practice based on current guidelines set by the National Osteoporotic Society (NOS) and National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE).

Osteoporosis is a silent disease. Most sufferers only find out they have osteoporosis after fracturing a bone and then having a scan. It effects one in three women and one in twelve men, with the incidence of hip fracture after the age of 50 having been established as one in two women and one in five men. The results of osteoporotic fractures can have a devastating effect.

Osteo-Scan was established to promote and educate people at risk to benefit from early detection as well as help reduce fracture risks in patients currently suffering from osteoporosis.

We use a Dexacare® G4 wrist densitometer to scan the wrist and accurately detect skeletal bone density.
